- 1 cup warm water 110°F (45°C)
- 1 package active dry yeast or instant yeast 0.25 oz
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour 360g
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- 3 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro or parsley
Activate Yeast Mixture:
In a bowl, whisk together yeast, sugar, and warm water. Set aside for 10 minutes until foamy.Knead Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, yogurt, and oil. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead for 10 minutes until the dough is smooth. Cover and allow to rise for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in volume.Shape Naan Ovals:
Separate the dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each into a ball, then roll out into an oval roughly 8 inches long.Cook Naan:
Preheat a lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat. Place each naan in the skillet and cook until bubbles form and the bottom is golden, about 1 minute per side.Brush Garlic Butter:
Stir the minced garlic into the melted butter. Brush this garlic butter over the cooked naans. Season with a pinch of salt and scatter chopped cilantro or parsley on top.
