Ingredients

  • 13 oz refrigerated pizza dough 369 g, from a can
  • parchment paper to line the baking sheet
  • 6-7 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp butter 42 g, melted
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 50 g, split
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley minced finely
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh rosemary minced finely
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh basil minced finely
  • 1 clove garlic grated
  • 1 jar marinara and/or pesto for dipping

Method

  1. Set oven to 400°F (205°C). Use parchment paper to line a baking sheet.
  2. Divide the dough into 30 squares of roughly equal size. Slice the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 pieces, each about 1-inch.
  3. On each dough square, put one mozzarella piece, then shape into a ball by rolling with your hands until the edges are smooth and sealed.
  4. Place the balls seam side down on the lined baking sheet, arranging them in a tree shape so they touch. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with water, then gently brush the egg wash over each ball.
  5. Bake for 16–18 minutes, until golden brown. Meanwhile, melt the butter in the microwave, then mix in half of the Parmesan, all of the grated garlic, and the herbs. Brush this mixture over the rolls, dust with the remaining Parmesan, and serve right away with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.
